Caption: The 'Cretemanor' immediately after its launch into the River Ribble, with an attendant tug. This 700 ton barge differed from most ships of its day in that the material used for its hull was concrete. The 'Cretemanor' was sold to Spain in 1927 and sunk in harbour construction. Only one other concrete ship, the 'Cretemoor', was launched by its makers.
